Chapter Three (past)A Chapter by ShadowHaze
We sat on bare ground. Alex leaned against me and closed her eyes. I rubbed her back for a few minutes, before just holding her hand, which she reached for when I did stop rubbing her back.
I looked down at her, confused. Why did she keep trying to stay this close to me? I didn’t mind it for some reason, but she’s never acted like this, to me, before. She looked back at me, with that same look in her eyes.
“What?” I whispered, my face getting closer to hers.
She looked at me again, and started to say something, but was interrupted by the story-teller.
“Can you two feel anything here?” the man said.
I looked up, startled. “Um, we’ll try.” Alex closed her eyes, and I looked around, looking for someone that wasn’t supposed to be there.
“There’s something here, but its… Not what we expect.” Me and Alex said almost at the same time, when I saw a flicker of movement in the corner of the room.
Alex’s eyes flew open and she started clicking her tongue, like trying to get a cat to come towards her. Then a black cat appeared out of no where and began walking towards me, slowly and delicately. Alex continued clicking her tongue. The cat jumped onto my lap, and then started purring and rubbing its head against my hand. I scratched it behind its ears, smiling.
“What is it?” I asked Alex.
“Not, it…. Who. This one, is a teenage girl, her boyfriend, murdered her. She’s stayed alive to help two people that were meant for each other realize their love for each other.” Her eyes suddenly burned so much with that same look. I tried hard to figure out what it was.
The cat suddenly began changing. It changed into a beautiful 15 year-old girl. She looked exactly like Alex, except Alex had bright, light blue eyes. The cat/teen had black wavy hair that was a little past shoulder length. Alex’s was layered and half-way up the neck. The ghost-girl’s eyes were a deep, chocolate brown, with long, black eyelashes. She had small freckles dotting her nose, and her teeth were straight and white. I glanced at Alex, and it was an almost exact copy.
Two beautiful girls, said a girl’s voice inside my head I glanced up at the cat/teen, and she smiled, Yes, it’s me talking inside your head. She laughed, She loves you, by the way. Guys are so straight forward; they won’t look at anything around them. She rolled her eyes, that’s why she’s getting so close like that. She’s scared, and she wants you to hold you to her. The thought hadn’t even registered in my head, before she answered it. She’s loved you since 8th grade.
I looked back at Alex, and realized what that look was that I saw in her eyes. It was love. I smiled so warmly at her, she looked startled. Then fear clouded her eyes and she glanced up at the ghost-girl. By the time she looked back at me, my lips had formed a frown, and I knew my eyes had sorrow in them. I glanced down, looking into my lap, which my hands had twisted together nervously.
Then Alex lifted my head up by my chin, with her hand. She looked into my eyes again and then suddenly hugged my tightly, holding onto me. I shifted slightly, so she was closer to me, and I hugged her back, hard. My shirt was again wet with tears, as Alex started crying again.
The ghost-girl smiled at me and Alex, and then disappeared too.
“Thank you,” I whispered into the darkness.
The group was gazing at us, totally confused by the exchange that just happened.
“Okaaay, lets go the next haunted area,” Said the story-teller, looking like he was about to die laughing.
