Chapter Two (past)A Chapter by ShadowHaze
“There are believed to be thirteen ghosts living in this house. Not all of the bad. Only five are evil. Eight of them are just here because they want justice to there terrible murders, which wasn’t granted to anyone at the period of time they were living in. Many people have tried to follow the murders, and track down who they were, but it always ran into a dead end. The ghosts would always try to help, but most of the time, only scared the investigator and made them stop.
“The evil ones are just here to wreak havoc onto the people they don’t like. Some supernatural people can feel them whenever they’re close. Do we have any in this group tonight?”
I nudged Alex. She glanced up at me, and then raised her hand, not breaking her gaze away from me until the man clapped excitedly.
“This is great!” he said, “Is there a ghost near us now?”
Alex paused for a moment, closing her eyes and stiffening next to me. She nodded after 2 minutes of concentration. Then she gasped and her eyes flew open. “Ooooh…” she whispered and then said, frowning, “I’m so sorry.”
“Alex? What happened?” I asked her. Tears had started to brim her eyes.
“A small girl, only about five, had been murdered,” her eyes suddenly went out of focus, and she began talking like she was asleep. “She had been asleep, while her parents were out. She was abused and hurt everyday, by her drunken father, and her mother stood back yelling at her, to quit whining and crying. She had woken up to shouting below her room. She crept out of bed and went downstairs to see her father in a bloody mess. Her mother was cowering in the corner. A large, ugly man was standing at the bottom of the stairs, calling her to him. She walked day-dreamily to him and then he stabbed the knife into her, right over her heart. She didn’t die though.” A confused look on Alex’s face was wiped away two seconds after it was on her face. The tears spilled over, and I bent in to hug her tightly.
“Don’t continue if you don’t want to.” I whispered into her ear.
She shook her head and continued, her regular voice coming back to her, but she started stuttering, the tears choking her voice, “S-she grabbed th-the knife out of h-her chest and l-l-let the man l-leave, the-the one that had tri-tried to-to kill her the-then she t-t-t-turned to h-her f-f-father and h-her m-m-m-mother and p-p-pointed at th-them,” Her voice was soon obscured by the sob that shook Alex.
“Shh,” I whispered stroking her hair, “Don’t continue, it’s not you there, your not that little girl. It’s all right, it’s all right, just stop, please.”
Alex shook her head and tried to keep talking, “She p-pointed at h-h-her p-parents and s-said t-to them, that th-the-they k-k-k-killed her, and then she d-disappeared.”
One of the other girls there was crying too. She got up quickly, and sat beside Alex. “What’s her name?”
Alex paused, “Heather.”
The young woman gasped, and then closed her eyes, “Mine is too,” she whispered, terrified.
“She knows.”
“Will you tell her that I’m so sorry it happened to her?” The young woman Heather asked.
“I don’t have to, she can hear you already. She’s… She’s beside you right now, Christian.” She whispered.
I turned my head to look at the empty spot beside me. Suddenly I gasped, as a small girl came into my vision. She just appeared there, out of no where. Like she just popped out of the bench she was now sitting on. “I-I can see her,” I stammered.
Alex looked up, “She knows that too. She knows I can hear her, and you can see her.” Her eyes flashed, as if she had heard something else, but wouldn’t tell me. Then she laughed, the look gone, “She thinks you’re cute.”
I glanced back at the small girl sitting beside me. She had big blue eyes with copper hair that was shoulder-length. I smiled at her, and she smiled back. Then a second later, she was gone.
“She left,” Alex and I whispered at the same time.
Alex rested her head on my shoulder again, the tears coming freely now, soaking my shirt. I didn’t mind, I just continued to stroke her hair.
The story-teller, who quite all through the occasion, suddenly said, “Well, lets head to the next haunted spot on our list.”
Me and Alex rose quietly, with Heather on the other side of Alex, and walked like ghosts ourselves, behind the rest of the group.
Alex’s hand found mine, and I looked down into her eyes. That look that I had seen earlier was in her eyes, mingled with something else that I didn’t know. Alex had apparently found out something that I haven’t yet. She smiled at me. I smiled back and wiped off the tear-tracks along her cheeks. She sighed under my touch and then sat down, for we had stopped, as the story-teller started to light a small fire, in what seemed to be a very large living room.
