The Morning After

The Morning After

A Poem by Sarah Rose
"

I decided to ditch the depressing stuff, at least for a little while. This recounts the bliss I felt one morning after a significant event in the past year.

"
Sunday morning,
the smell of cucumber melon;
light falling
onto your smiling face,
peaceful in slumber

A good morning kiss
and a smile;
the sound of the shower.
Making the bed,
ecstasy.

A private whisper,
our little secret;
blushing,
stammering secrets.
A note on purple paper:
"To my baby girl,"

I love it. This really made me smile. :]

The combination of short and longer lines really made the poem have a nice rhythm. Using more than just one of our sense (smell, hearing, etc.) did you well here too. The imagery is wonderful. Very heartfelt.

And I love the way it ended. It just... I don't know. It's great.

I'm not the best writer. Most of my pieces are scattered thoughts that I weaved together into something even a little bit comprehensible. My "forte" is poetry, although lately I've been boycotting rhy.. more..
