Clever

Clever

A Poem by Sarah Rose
"

About the kind of boy your mother warns you away from.

"

You always liked them

just a bit too young.

Young, insecure, and

a little stupid.

Is that why you hold me

at arms' length? Because I'm

clever enough to see you

for what you are?

 What are you?

You're certainly not

a monster; you're just as

broken as I am, just a

scared little boy.

But somehow, in my

twisted heart of hearts,

I love you for it.

That's what you're afraid of

  isn't it?

Sarah Rose
There's really not much figurative language here, it's quite literal. Weird?

About
I'm not the best writer. Most of my pieces are scattered thoughts that I weaved together into something even a little bit comprehensible. My "forte" is poetry, although lately I've been boycotting rhy.. more..
