Let Us Write

“Let us write” she intones,

let us scribe, 

let us intone with words, 

let us sing with lines, 

let us harmonize in stanza’s, 

let us create poetry for the masses…

let us write.

Let parchment drip 

with the black ink of poetic thought, 

let the quill spill fourth 

the longings and yearnings of our souls, 

the melodic songs of our hearts.  

Let us write fellow poets 

and regale the world with beauteous verse.  

Let us write Sir Bards,

and Lady Bards alike;

let us write of the world as it is, 

and how we wish it to be.  

Let us try with quill, ink, parchment, and will, 

to banish evil and let the sun shine on a new romantic day.  

Let us fill the world with quixotic verse, 

let our spirits give rise to the tide of change,
