Who I am

Who I am

A Poem by Shadow

To understand my mind you must
suspend all you know of time.

To touch me is to burn with an icey chill
To seek only that which you intend to kill
To love me is to love pain

To stand with me is to stand for anarchy
To rise against me is to stand in the devil's path
to own me is impossible
To trust me may be the best
and worst decision you'll ever make

I stand alone even in a crowd
I scream only to have my shouts silenced by a pin drop
I am the stranger that makes you uncomfortable from across the room
I am the bump you hear in the night

I am the eternal shadow
I exist in both the dawn and twilight
I am consumed by myself
I trust no one
I need very little
I want.......
to know who I am.

You move through the depth of perception, the view of other-eyes, to your own introspection of who you may be. In the end, the question remains so poignant and one we must all answer at some point in our lives if we are to grasp our place in the world. Powerful!
