The Path To Recovery Is Made of Tears and Fears

The Path To Recovery Is Made of Tears and Fears

A Poem by Evangeline Allyson Monroe
"

My heart was just broken. I saw and heard the worst thing ever. This is just helping me push it down further.

"
Little girl oh so small,
Why do you continue to fall?
You twisted,
You turned,
You ran
Into something bigger than you.
Nothing that you can ever do
Will change the past, but look forward,
Little girl oh so small.

Little girl oh so small,
I hear your tears,
As each one slaps the ground.
I hear your fears,
As they gather all around.
I hear your words,
"Don't let them know I am here."
I know that fear.
"I can't go back to them."
I know that fear,
Little girl oh so small.

Little girl oh so small,
I know you will never know,
I know you will never read,
I know you will never see,
I know you will never hear
These words that I have conjured for you,
But I know your pain.
Your dark eyes seeing without seeing,
Young ears hearing without hearing,
I was there too.
Your age,
Your place.
I am here,
And so I pray that you will be too,
Little girl oh so small.

I have read a few of your poems today and this one has something that the first two were only on the verge of. There is so much pain and empathy in this one. With just a bit of tightening - meaning examining it to see if all the words are necessary- it can be extremely powerful. It already is powerful as is, but it is worth going back over. I would be happy to give examples if you should be interested. Keep on writing. I will read more later. Claire
