Scarlet Misfortune And Black Fantasies

Scarlet Misfortune And Black Fantasies

A Poem by Evangeline Allyson Monroe
"

Fourth in my series of poems. The rest are (in order from first to third): Porcelain and Plastic, Lies Mirrors Tell Us and My New Friend.

"
They all laugh,
They all mock me,
But none of them can see
How it hurts so.
Everyday at school,
Everyday at home,
It haunts and taunts,
Mocks and tortures,
Until I am sent away.

Drugs poison my mind,
I try to wash away the memories.
They still remain.

Alcohol washes over my mind,
Numbing my body
To all the pain it feels.

After the high,
After the fun,
I go home to cry
Because it is all still there,
it is all still real.
And it is haunting me.

They all laugh
At what they don't understand.
They all mock
Until their taunts I can no longer withstand.

Scars up my arms,
Wishes of a place different.
Scars down my legs,
Wishes of an end to it all.

Wishes that no one would notice each tally of pain marked on my body in blood.
