Dark and Drowning

Dark and Drowning

A Poem by Robert Centner

Let the water rise
Over the toes, licking gently at the feet
Innocent when first we meet
Not yet knowing my own demise

Now falling deeper
Headlong, too Quick
The water, my skin, it licks
Refreshing, this new lover

Liquid hugging, restricting
 Confining, Suffocating, colder
The light dims darker
Alone, left Drowning

Panic.... Gone,
My light disappeared
Lovers betrayed
Nothing but a pawn
