Ch.1: Blue Bubble Gum

We go to a children's playground to meet a 15-year-old boy named Jack. Jack has lived here for 7 years only let out on Halloween.

"Jack, please." my mom pled. "Stop being so obsessed with Halloween and I won't let the doctors take you away." She had tears in her eyes but all of it was like a blur from trying to break free from the two doctor's grasp.

"Mom, please! I love Halloween! I don't want it to go away!!" My mom turned to the other doctor standing behind her. "Please help him"

"Don't worry Ms. Annie. We'll take good care of your son."

"No! Mommy! NO! MOMMY!!!" I screamed and kicked as the two doctor's who were holding me started to drag me away.

That's my last memory of me being 4 years old.

I sat on top of the 'castle' in the children's playground park. I told myself "It's just 3 days till Halloween. You'll see the world and get all the candy you want then, Just like the other 7 years. I jumped off the playground and floated to the ground and with a click, I landed and my heels pressed firmly together. No, I am not a girl. It just my boots have a bit of a heel on them. I walked over to the sand box and sat down beside a 7-year-old girl who was building a sandcastle. 

"Hello, little one." I smiled at her.

"Hi, Mr!" She beamed back at me, so full of energy. So sweet.

"My name is Jack. What's yours?" 

"Amy! Want to help me build this sandcastle?"

"Er-" I had no idea how to build sandcastles but my brain, mind, and mouths had other ideas on the matter. "Sure" I said bluntly.

I tried to poke a hole in the sandcastle when it all tumbled over and collapsed.

I laughed nervously. "Mini earthquake?" She didn't take it very well. She burst into tears, running to her mom and hugging her tightly. 

I looked at the at the sand that once was a sandcastle. I shrunk down into my hoodie and sat there sad. 

"Hey." said, someone. I pulled my head out of my hoodie and looked up there was a beautiful girl. dark blue hair comb all to one side, squarish rimmed glasses, a white shirt with rips in the sides of the sleeves, "Bring me the horizon was written on it, she had short light blue shorts, one dark blue sock with two white lines going across the top and black shoes.

"Who are you?"

"Why are you in your hoodie?"

"I asked first!"

"Fine. I am Jade, even though I am wearing blue my name is Jade. I know weird."

"I'm Jack, and I am hiding in my hoodie because I broke this girl's sandcastle."

"Well, we'll have to build another one!" 

"I don't know how..."

"Oh..." The girl started to chew on something in her mouth and then, like magic, blew a big blue bubble and then it popped.

"Whoa! How did you do that!?" I moved closer. She looked a bit startled.

"What? You haven't seen blue bubble gum?"

"No. I mean I haven't even seen bubble gum!"

"You haven't?" He took some out and handed me a strip. "Just remember not to swallow it, you can chew it, though."

I took the wrapper off and started to chew on it 

"Why can I swallow it?"

"It's supposedly not good for you."

I realized it was getting dark already and turned to her and smiled. "You should get home. It's getting dark."

"Good idea, see you tomorrow?"

I nodded and watched her run off into the distance. When my gum had lost its flavor I spat it out onto the ground and smiled to myself and said: "Halloween this year is going to be fun."
