There Was Silence

There Was Silence

A Poem by Shade Teller

There was silence,
in every note, in every word.
There was silence,
in what was and wasn't heard.
There was silence,
in every day, in every time.
There was silence,
in that horrid rhyme.

There was terror,
in every vein, in every heart.
There was terror,
from the very start.
There was terror,
in every man, in every eye.
There was terror,
in every single lie.

There was death,
in every world, in every place.
There was death,
in every time and space.
There was death,
in every person, and in me,
There was death,
In what I couldn't see.

There was silence,
There was terror,
There was death,
till the very end.
