I AM A BLAZING FIRE

I AM A BLAZING FIRE

A Poem by Shabeeh Haider

.

                     I am a blazing fire,

You are a ball of snow.

My flames have made you water

And now you start to flow.

                 You pour onto the fire,

           And douse my flickering flame,

               You wipe out my existence,

For you are not the same.

                 There is no blazing fire,

There is no ball of snow.

Just eyes that gaze at nothing

And from them tear drops flow.

There are many ways to describe how two things don't mix: "fire & ice" . . . "gasoline & match" . . . "oil & water" . . . but this is the most amazing & original way I've ever seen it described. This is so brilliantly described in vivid metaphor that is stretched to the moon & back. I could actually feel the way it feels to (1) snuff someone else out with my personality . . . and (2) be snuffed out myself by someone else's personality. It couldn't be more stark & permanent as you've described it here. Truly one of the best ideas I've seen in your writing.

YEs, we do tend to obliterate people sometimes. The secret is just to get on with it. OR retribution, but I think that gets out of hand. MY husband always says 'Don't get mad, get even'. But I beg to disagree

(eyes that gaze at nothing and from them tear drops flow.) A sad statement that I hope is not autobiographical. Nicely written my friend! ~Sharon

Kudos for this thought, Sir.
Fire and snow are never meant to be together.
At the end only void will be left.

Brilliant poem, sir.

What a beautiful write Haider ji! Kudos to your creativity! I liked the irony of the fact.
It's metaphorical effect leaves one awestruck.
To lose existence in the hands of one's own creation can be painful or blissful depending upon the perspective. Those tear drops tell the agony..
Thank you for sharing this beautiful word craft...

Bala thank you for your wonderful review. At times you lose it all even after having succeeded.

Very rightly said, Sir!
Chalk and cheese, night and day.. the coming and going, the ifs and but? There's a conflicting message in your finely expressed poem. The chemistry is near dangerous yet.. maybe the lack of armour on both sices isn't quite enough? Or on a second reading, is one sided.. but, which side?!

Delightful rhyming in this ultra-romantic write. Hints at deep emotion and sensuality. I liked it a lot. Lydi**

Perfectly captured Shabeeh. Reminiscent of dreams that could have been more and memories that alternative endings were written for but not used.

Certainly not the way a relationship should end. Thank you for your words.
It's more fuel that we need when we are aflame - someone who compliments and increases our glow as well as their own - not one who kils the flame.
Good metaphorical write Shabeeh
