YOUR EMBRACE

YOUR EMBRACE

A Poem by Shabeeh Haider

As the clouds drift up above,
The sky embraces them with love.

The rain drops falling on the sand,
Gently touch the thirsty land.

The shore embraces them with glee.
The waves that rise up from the sea.

The mighty sun spreads out its rays,
And takes the Earth in its embrace.

My empty soul lets out a sigh,
O hug me, hold me till I die.

Interesting set of couplets, each with something giving & something else receiving . . . I like such parallels & uniformity from stanza to stanza. Your various give & take scenarios are well-chosen to go together in a harmonious way, with the final couplet being a bit of a departure for emphasis. Clearly the narrator longs for a give & take scenario, too, but his/her sigh just goes out into the ether. The subtlety is very nice.

I was fortunate to read your poem. Thank you for dropping by and it's wonderful to have met you.
Beautifully captured Shabeeh. Such a simple statement, yet it intricately weaves all our emotions into something we try to capture in words, yet fall short. You have excelled in creating a piece, much more than the sum of its parts. Superb.

Using the never ending embraces that happen in our natural world to request that type of forever from a loved one very powerful.
