A THIEF OF LOVE

A THIEF OF LOVE

A Poem by Shabeeh Haider

Love has stepped into my world,

And now I am a thief.

I’m stealing minutes from your life,

 Though often they are brief.

At times I steal a loving glance,

Sometimes I steal a kiss.

And then I build my world of dreams,

A world of total bliss.

I want to steal the tears you have,

I want to take your grief.

I stole your heart; I stole your sleep,

I’ll always be your thief.

' I want to steal the tears you have, .. .. I want to take your grief. .. .. I stole your heart; I stole your sleep, .. .. I’ll always be your thief. '

Beautiful feelings plus great meter plus a warm font colour equals a wonderful poem for your love. Should be written on fine tissue and held with garlands of sweet scented flowers!

Thank you Emma for such a heart warming review

I guess it is very acceptable to steal love and not possessions, to steal dreams and not cause nightmares. Very good and rhyming, sir...:)...................

Grey, thank you so much
Beautifully constructed, as always. I love the spin on "thief" and the many different ways you incorporate it into the experience of love. The message behind this poem is quite complex for such a short piece. There's a tone that sounds almost like guilt in the beginning, especially in the line "I'm stealing minutes from your life." But then there's the speaker's desire to not only share his beloved's joy, but also her pain. The combination of mutual happiness and mutual sacrifice makes this very realistic. Excellent work!

Alicia, thank you for your very kind review
a really nice take on thievery....

a good kind...it does seem like we often are just stealing those moments of love and passion...this world is so busy now, we have to break into the store of moments--and steal emotions from such an emotionless world...

nicely done, Shabeeh

Shadowine, thank you
Beautiful. I liked how you described the need and want of love.
"I want to take your grief.
I stole your heart; I stole your sleep,
I’ll always be your thief."
Being a thief in love is okay. Love need two to have a proper tangle. Thank you Shabeeh for sharing the excellent poetry.
