MY PAINTINGS

MY PAINTINGS

A Poem by Shabeeh Haider

My paintings, my poems, my sculpture, my art,

I paint you on canvas and hide you in heart.

I draw you on paper and write you in verse,

The day I don’t dream you, that day is a curse.

The rose in my garden was covered with dew,

Or was it the rain that was falling on you.

Your hair on your face can turn day into night,

The way the black clouds hide the sun and its light.

To place you in verses, I find it so tough,

To write on your beauty words aren’t enough.

I paint you in colors and write you in ink,

But that says a fraction of all that I think.

It would be a huge honor to be thought of this way by anyone. I love the way you combine the various mediums of artistic endeavor we may use to try to express all that we're feeling inside. I love the way your words are selected for maximum imagery, such that it's like a combination poem & word painting. But the most impactful lines are the last two. It's expressed in a simple, clear way, but it's so very true-to-life for most of us. Just love those last 2 lines!

I am glad you enjoyed this poem. Somehow words always fail to deliver out true thoughts

Edmund, thank you so much for your very encouraging words
Extremely beautiful lines there and a lovely poem. You love somebody and you paint her on canvas and hide her in verse. There aren't adequate words or expressions to express all what you think. A nice melancholy and the ending is amazing. Keep writing.

Thank you my dear friend for your very kind words
sometimes it is so hard to express everything we see and feel...there aren't enough words, or enough colors on the palette..

again, although i am not such a rhyme fan---this is very pleasing to the ear...and filled with that frustrated emotion of not being able to express.
