Ghazal

The ghazal is a form of poetry composed of rhyming couplets and a refrain that are structurally, thematically, and emotionally autonomous.

Did you feel the quake tonight?
Did someone’s heart break tonight?

Come put your hand on my heart,
Come remove my ache tonight.

Nights of parting are so tough
How much can you take tonight?

Waiting for your final word,
My life was at stake tonight.

Though you said you would not come,
What kept me awake tonight?

Author's Note

A "GHAZAL" is a urdu. persian and hindi form of poetry. It consists of couplets that are complete in idea and theme apart from the whole poem.
The opening lines rhyme and the second line of each couplet rhymes with the opening lines.

Wah! Wah! Great poetry, brother, a fabulous ghazal. Ghazals have always fascinated me, I write them too. You have expressed your emotions in a good manner. Excellent couplets- excellent shers. All your words rouse how very profound feelings you have and how long you can wait, how long you can endure, forbear on the gruelling path of love. Well-written, keep writing. do note, I usually go for unconventional ghazals- where we skip out refrain, but we write the maqta. I will review as many poems of your as I can- I just find them fascinating. see, if you could post more ghazals.
