If Only.
I
'Daddy, why did mum have to leave for heaven?',
a son cries,
'She dint want to, but she had no choice son,'
a teary reply.
'I miss her daddy, I dint even get to say a goodbye,
Why did she go daddy? why?'.
If Only the word 'Sorry' had slipped out,
There were no sign; it was a simple rout,
Into oblivion, as the guilt in him sinks,
If Only he had saved her from the brink.
II
'I could have done so much with my life'
laments a dying man painfully true.
'I wasted it son, I never got a chance-
to show how much I loved you'
'Dad, I just wished to have had a normal life'
a son's fatal words as a soul flew.
If Only time had the power to go back,
Perhaps, derailed train could be put to track-,
Derailed, and unfulfillable was a son's past,
If Only the worldly desires weren't so vast.
III
'Tommy, Tommy no, move, bark, anything
please tell me your only playing dead.'
a 6 year old girl mourns.
'Get up, I wanna play, please get up',
sighs masked the rest she said.
If Only joy could last forever,a girls wish
Death would be so cruel steal away her bliss,
Helpless innocence, killed by a flash tragedy,
If Only her face could have endless felicity.
IV
'Everytime I look at you, I see her face'
cried a subdued wife.
'But honey I love you, it was just a mistake'
pleaded the husband, a new life.
'I have to move on,I cant live this way'
she said.
'Its your name which I breathe each day'
with sorrow he said.
If Only being in love that could be pure,
Doubts could subside, a bond that was sure,
A moment of joy, a lifetime of sorrow,
If Only today gave way to a better tomorrow.

Have you felt words being dormant?
Have you wished you could go back?
Have you felt loss, you never deserved?
Have you wished, for a second chance?
If Only..
