You lay motionless, and I, too.A Poem by ShAbA dedication to a lover of old. bless you.
I whispered a soft lullaby, and awaited a reply,
perhaps you were not listening. Nudged your trunk, but you lay still, maybe I was too weak. Embraced your lips, but they did not respond, I guess you were fast asleep. Your skin felt numb, The night must have been really cold, I could feel the chill pierce my bones. Tonight, after all these years trapped in you, a body felt deprived of your arms, my flesh blackened a little, almost like a disease, craving for what it had become so used to, I'm sure you had just hurt yourself. You lay motionless, and I, too. Waiting, that you will suddenly open your eyes, telling me this was all a big joke, and cradle me in your arms, till all the wound heal, caress me in your branches to sleep. The night must have been too long, or maybe too short, the sun kissed the sky, but I was left waiting. Scars in my voice, as I could gasp no more, My flesh had surrendered to black, the candles succumbed to the gale, A tear whistled past my cheeks, and fell on your cloth. Then, Like a cascade, saline drops embedding your face, slithered on your body. I felt weak, my body no longer belonged. You lay motionless, and I, too. © 2010 ShAbReviews
