Cross is CrookedA Poem by Sgammato [Inertia The Musical]Quina has tried several religions, but none of them leave her feeling content with life. This last one is no different. Quina gives up on organized religion and embraces spiritual tolerance.
QUINA:
The Cross is crooked the Church is corrupt and cold We were lost whilst looking ever upward for the fate of our souls Misled and isolated, we sought a fresh pure truth But each embarkation was just an incarnation of you Forgive me Father, but you have sinned re-writing the Good Book for your own selfish ends Lavished in excess with worldly materials while the Meek and Meager lie famished, ethereal Forgive me Father, but you have sinned, the blood of the innocent is upon your hands Selling indulgences bought you hell But the Market closes at the sound of the bell (interlude) Now the bulb's burned black, and the light's left to lay in wait The spark in our spirit's been rendered to an ember for days (and days) Unsure of where to turn for the eternal fate of our souls We look deep inside the truth and we realize we're immune to their control I believe in Karma, and Dharma and loving your neighbor not tainted men in painted robes running religiously enSLAVEd LABOR Cults and rituals confound these concepts and house their victims in a system built on Ignorance makes malleable minds and we been killin’-a-million-a-with ‘em-a- since-the-beginning of Time © 2011 Sgammato [Inertia The Musical]Author's Note
