WildernessA Poem by Seyi Ojenike
I awake
To the weary feelings Of this wilderness. Half spent my life Dwelling amongst unclean people, In this dark haze. My unclean lips Exhausted to be sanctified Without cause, But willing, of the maladies of this People, And yet I seek sanctuary From unknown malignancies, Thoughts of which I shudder to. And in my search for light Only to find dim and Fading ones Whilst the brighter glows From afar. And in my struggle to get away From here, Into the light I see, My steps uncertain, As I am gripped with fear Of slumber. Slumber for eternity. © 2012 Seyi OjenikeAuthor's Note
