"

This will reveal the truth about me, or at least part of me. I hope you are ready.

"
What right have we,
To say our lives are hard,
If you are reading this,
Your life is easy.

True, some things may be,
A bit more challenging,
Than others tend to believe,
But really, they are just cracks,
In the paved path of life.

Darkness may surround you,
You may have lost hope,
But that is all in your,
Closed off perspective.

Some are beaten,
Some starve,
Some live where,
Most people dare not tread.

You may say,
That you are one of these,
That your life has been miserable,
But you are here,
Reading this now.

That means you are alive,
You have made it through,
Those blazing fires,
Those hellish days of old.

That means you are stronger,
Though only if you yourself,
Take the time to realize,
All the things around you,
All the reasons to keep going.

So please,
Keep moving forward,
Prove to me,
That there is still hope,
For humanity.

For somewhere,
In my small mind,
I have come to hate them,
A people rotten to the core,
Myself included.

I keep moving forward,
In hopes that I will see,
A day that people,
Will remember as something,
Worth living for.

I'm sorry if this offends people, I've been told by myself that I lack people skills.
Confused? I am one of two personas.
The one that sleeps. And so shall I sleep until I am needed again.
So once more sorry.

This is very well written and striking. I think you hit many good points. Too often we wallow over something way too small.... I think there is way too much drama in the world. I like the "paved path of life". Life gives us many choices, it teaches us lessons, it challenges us and yes, it kicks our a*s as well. I think low times make you enjoy the good times, etc. I like this - it made me nod my head and says - this kid's got it! Bravo

Never fall backward. Never allow the naysayers to slow you down. I like the honest tone and positive feel of your words. Thank you for for sharing the excellent poetry.

Was my pleasure and you are welcome.
Beautiful and so true! Perhaps, make it easier to illustrate the two personas you mentioned?

I know I already commented, but I was reading an article and came across this video to a speech made by Charlie Chaplin in 'The Great Dictator' and it reminded me SO MUCH of the message in the poem...give it a listen because it's insanely inspirational.

Don't apologize! Its not offensive at all; it pinpoints a very specific problem with humanity and how people have become so complacent that they dont fight for those that cant fight for themselves or they ignore the fact that their suffering pales in comparison to the suffering of people who, like you said, may starve or live places that people in Western society would scoff at and call dirty, but to those people its home and its all they can afford to live in.

I dunno if that made sense but people are too complacent or they lack the mental capacity to do things that matter and that might help humanity out a bit, so this poem is great because it reveals the darker side of humanity.

This is an AWESOME poem. 100/100
