Silence

Part two in the day of confusion

I can't keep up,
The silence set in stone.
To make one move,
In this game of chess,
That dictates the future.
Each path ends in lies,
Concealing something,
Keeping quiet.
The silence is deafening.

I don't think,
I'm strong enough,
To fight the world.
With all its sick ideas,
And twisted minds.
The pain is too great.
Do I hurt others?
Do I hurt myself?
Why must one be selfish,
To care about themselves.

The silence envelopes,
The bleak morning sky,
The soldiers all stand,
In one long straight line,
No bullets fly,
Not one body down,
But in the silence before the storm,
Everyone drowns.

holy powerful words, batman. this is really intense, and wonderful, and just...im tearing up. honestly. It is not selfish to care about yourself, and if people tell you that it is, they're being retarded and stupid and aren't worth the time spent worrying about them; "Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind". The world may be sick and twisted, but you'll never have to weather it alone. You are stronger than you realize, and you've got back-up. Im going to quote a really cheesy song here, but it works really well I think (Keep Holding On by Avril Lavigne): "When it gets cold, And it feels like the end, There's no place to go, You know I won't give in...With you by my side I will fight and defend."

In any case...tears aside...this is an amazing poem.
