A broken heart

In the recent death of someone I respected, I found this to be true.

I lie here, awake, as the world has gone to sleep. 

My peace of mind, crushed. 

This feeling inside is enough,

To kill anyone left living.

Long have I held strong,

My heart under lock and key.

But all walls crumble with time,

Mine is the same.

Shadow my thoughts,

Learn me inside as well as out.

This book would be readable,

If not for the the torrent of emotions it must hold.

I long to fly away from this place,

Full of sorrow and suffering.

But I will not,

Such is my destiny.

To hold up those who have fallen,

And who cannot lift themselves anymore.

Who then will lift me when I fall.

If none then I must hold on,

For my darkest hour has yet to come,

I only hope to have the eyes to find the light,

That lies within.
