NormalA Poem by Eryn ♪
Amidst these placid endless days,
A lone girl sits on her widow seat, She looks upon an empty street, Imagining the world of another, In this world of breathing forests, Of mysteries, magic, and mayhem, She stands with others like her self, Each unique, individual, special, They stand alone together, Against a coming storm. It comes in wisps and puffs, Slowly moving through the crowd, Towards the lonely girl, She watches as the mist swallows, Like the gaping mouth of a monster, Those other special people, Leaving her surrounded in darkness. She starts to move, Her body moving in time, With the silent track, The one that comes from another, She dances in the darkness, Her partner unseen, Their quick, sure movements, Silhouetted against the night. It pulls against her, Draws her in to itself, Cajoling her with its soft embrace, She knows it lies, Through its wispy teeth, Still she finds herself, Attracted to its dark beauty. Soon she will be lost, Behind this invisible curtain, Like the other beautiful people, Those different from the way, That the world believes should be, She plays the dangerous game, She walks the knifes edge, One step from death. The darkness presses in, It dances with her, Greedy for her beauty, Her soul that glows with the sun, The warmth it craves, She is falling, Her energy waning, She knows she cannot continue, She knows it will end without her. The girl from another world wakes, Water rages around her, Still the cold darkness presses, Against her pale skin, The world is frozen, A murky wet wasteland, It wants her to stay, She cannot though. The water breaks around her, The wail of sirens fills her ears, She is being pulled back, Her clothes clung to, By deaths boney fingers, Just as she is about to embrace, Those dark cajoling eyes, She is lifted once more, Into the world she once lived, As a lonely girl, Sitting on the window seat, Wanting to be normal. © 2013 Eryn ♪Author's Note
