I am hungry even if__A Poem by Jaskaran Singh SethiI am the poorest man on this earth. I have nothing but love to give to this world
I was satiated
before I took a dip In the pious chants of this maddening world now the black perennial snows tormenting the body in the pole of the night. the doors are closed, no escape, for the withered purple roses, to tiptoe on the ground the worms making their sheds and eating the pages where I scribble my words ditch me, they outpour with a screeching sound I am hungry even if you serve me moon on a silver platter Washing away the sins Bound to the chains of the strangled past I am hungry even if sun's blazing flames fizzle out in shallow air whispering a cool breeze on my torn skin like water lily leaves dancing bobbing on the lake tranquility reigning in the sea putting the fishes in a siesta I am hungry even if you make me a garden Where the world seeks refuge where humming bird dances the lilacs nod and the bees come flocking in pale, scented gloaming withered autumn leaves hugging the lake scent of lips kissing passionately Causing an uproar in a feeble heart I am hungry nothing can quench my thirst but love "like captured water you hold me in your cupped hands I flow on your palm" © 2022 Jaskaran Singh Sethi |
