What is Love?A Poem by EJ ServellonLove is a misunderstood force that needs deeper awareness.Out of all human
experiences, Many ask ourselves
what is love? Wondering, dreaming,
pondering. Has it been the
million songs, serenades or poems written? Tears shed? To show how much you
need someone? The desperate need to
feel validated? To fill the empty
space or cup? No.. this is not
love. To hoard flowers,
chocolates, and plastic flair? To place a price tag
on someone’s heart? No.. this is not
love. To sleep with either a
man or woman? Just to get a
commitment, or ring? No.. this is not
love. To react in rage or
anger, In order to obtain
what the self wants or needs? No.. this is not love
either. Beyond the self,
there is a true meaning. A power that recalibrates
every cell in your being. An inner fire of the
heart. Erupting in a blaze. Incinerating all that
of the self, with an unwavering
sense purpose. Love is the great
unknown. To open the heart in
trust, is unknown. An unknown that says,
love hurts. ...it does not have
to. Love is the
abandonment of everything, for another. The release of
attachments, needs, conditions. The knowing that you
are complete as you are. With the desire to
give it all away. For the chance that
another can experience something greater. Love is bearing the
greatest burden, cost, pain. While, sparing others
the story or drama. To give the most
priceless gift you have. Without saying who
its from. To expect nothing in
return. To accept an unknown
child, and call it your own. To say you love
someone, without knowing them. To see your greatest
lover marry someone else, and wish them all the best. As their happiness,
is your happiness. It is smiling to your
loved one, as you take your last breath of life. To listen, to
understand another’s story. Even when you, have
never been understood. To show up, when
others do not. Universal,
equilateral, gratifying, divine. This is Love. Everything else, is just an illusion …or simply just bullshit. © 2019 EJ Servellon |
