Desolate and Numb

Desolate and Numb

A Poem by Amber Nicole

The wine is warming in my glass.
Condensation rolling down.
Like little pebbles on a cliff-side
willing and waiting to drown.

How did my life get to this point?
Slipping through my hands.
Grain of salt and tumbleweeds
rotting in the forgotten lands.

My heart once full of happiness,
content and peaceful with my life.
The earthquake came, shattering all walls.
Every emotion crumbling with strife.

I made my promises, I made my vows
to always hold her dear.
Unexpectedly, without alarm,
I fear the end is already here.

This is a beautiful piece. Well penned. Deep, raw, and very heartfelt. I loved it. Good job.
