Here I Am

Here I Am

A Poem by Amber Nicole

here i am
lying here waiting
for a bone to be thrown
for a love to be given
on this one way street
of a breaking heart

here i am
sitting here waiting
for a sliver of your love
trying to ignore
the others you have found
to tag along

here i am
dying inside, waiting
waiting for a love
that will never come
longing for a life
i'll never grasp

here i am
crying outside, waiting
for a broken heart to heal
to mend itself whole
from a love that was given
but always ignored

here i am...

Wow. This is...great.

First of all, I love this style--just the look of the poem drew me in. Second of all, the emotion is extremely palpable. Awesome, awesome verses:

"here i am

for a sliver of your love
trying to ignore
the others you have found
to tag along

here i am
dying inside, waiting
waiting for a love
that will never come
longing for a life

You've read my mind. And probably many others' as well.

:]
