Kiwi Summer

Kiwi Summer

A Poem by [Mackenzie]
"

Something I wrote for our English topic of Identity, even though it wasn't set work. ^^

"
Every morning we wake
to the tui's call
the chirping of cicadas
and the roaring of engines
outside our bedroom windows
glaring sunlight pours through net curtains
as we pull on our school uniforms
eager to get out
and bask in the warmth
of a typical kiwi summer.

You described the environment you live in very clearly. It is written in such a way that even I can understand it . . . which is not easy. Good write. Keep up the good work.

I miss the Kiwi summer...

You captured the essence of New Zealand perfectly! Although I can't remember hearing a tui ever.

And, yes, this is Nandini, in case you've forgotten!
