Hold on Tight

Based on a recurring nightmare I once had.

"Hold on tight."

My hands sweat

As they grip the smooth metal of the bar.

My fingers cramp

From being clenched together so long.

My legs dangle

Above an empty black abyss.

My heart thumps in my chest

As the adrenaline races through my veins.

My thoughts are undecipherable

Lost and tangled in a haze of fear.

My eyes stare at an empty blue sky

The only thing to stop me from panicking.

My hands loosen their grip.

The steel becomes slippery wet,

My fingers weak,

and I drop.

Your voice whispers in my mind

As the blue sky recedes

And I drop further;

"You didn't hold."

Yeah, well done! This is great descriptive poetry. Don't beat yourself down like in your bio, it's rare to find a twelve-year-old of your maturity and writing talent. I'm only fourteen myself, and can only hope I am as msture as pepole tell me I am. Being young and with more brain cells than a gnat with a learning disability ( !!!) , it can be hard to be accepted, or to deal with so-called adults who think they are better than you, but don't give up, or dis yourself, cos your talent is really obvious and this poem is very very enjoyable!!
