The Only Way

The Only Way

A Poem by [Mackenzie]

I sit

My arm outstretched

Wrist exposed.

As I raise the blade

My hand shakes

The smooth metal shivers.

It slices across my skin

The razor-sharp edge cutting deep

But no pain.

Only relief.

My unshed tears, my unrevealed sadness.

They run out with my blood.

But as the flow stops

So does my relief.

The sadness crashes down on me again.

It wasn't enough.

I lift the blade again

And the painless caress of the steel brushes my arm again.
