Legacy

Legacy

A Poem by Seriana
"

Wrote this months ago as a "quick" writing assignment at a poetry meeting. It needs some refinement, but I like it for now.

Legacy

She sat in stillness, concrete whispers beneath her.

she couldn’t have been but a child of five,

when she tried to understand they way that they died.

Fast forward a year, or two, or three

and she wouldn’t even remember,

except for the Christmas tree…….

But now was the time, her moment of contemplation;

a time for her to reflect,

on the memories when she never listened.

Then, as quickly as the breeze glided on by,

and caught her attention, directing sight to the sky,

She smiled at mom, and daddy, too….

and walked away

from her grandparents legacy of blue…..

You never cease to amaze me... I felt that tug at my heart feeling for the child to young to understand the death of loved ones but still possessing the knowledge to know they are still there in loved ones that remain.
