Farewell Thee Fair Maiden

Farewell Thee Fair Maiden

A Story by Seriana

Farewell Thee Fair Maiden

Quietly she sat

By the shores of sandy sprays

And listen did she

To the musical melody of the swelling sea

Closer the waves came

Crashing violently at her sleepy feet

But quickly she stepped

Sloshing the salty sea at her knees

When upon the wind the dissonant static blew

Cresting with reverberating strength

In the solace of her stranded soul

And she…

With succulent sounds of silence

Saturated her heart in the sanguine spring

And immersed herself in the shadowed slopes

Hoping the stilled sadness

Would wash away with the stagnant sea

Her tears, they fell with wondrous surrender

Upon the sodden weeping ground

Soaking the saturated swaying pools

With sprinkles of suicidal liquid streams

They danced on shades of sun-filled sand

With a somber spirit and a wicked smile

And She…

With sweet lamenting cries

Searched the wistful sky for a sign

The whistling waves came, then

Without warning, without will

And she….

Standing weakly in the shallow sand

Stumbled wearily on the sacrificial edge

And was slowly whisked away

In the wallowing waves of the screaming sea

Oh Amber, this is so haunting yet so beautiful. You have such an amazing way with words girl. Your choice of words is always seductive to the point that they pull me into the poem. I feel like I am there and seeing it with my own eyes. Thanks for the wonderful journeys you have taken me on. I look forward to so many more.

this is beautifully captivating, like Poe's annabel lee, but much prettier in imagery, i felt the wisping mist
of the shoreline crashing on the lonely sand, the idea of being swallowed by the ocean,
to drown in one's own despair is classic and the meaning comes to subtle yet vibrant life through
the porcelin detail that is smoothly controlled and crafted with eloquence, reads like a dream of longing,
to give the heart to certain cause even if the cause means death, like the demise of falling in love.
I'm sure there are many ways to look at the meaning, thats what makes this poem brilliant.

There are deep waves of beauty that crest over the surface here, and a much darker current that pulls from underneath. Such a haunting revelation within such a vividly beautiful write...
