Ghost towns in the Ocean

Ghost towns in the Ocean

A Poem by Seriana

Ghost towns in the ocean

A single nostalgic tear

falls to the waters below

Streaming ripples echo

Echo

Echo

Echo

across a liquid oasis

A life goes on

in endless pools of tidy nights

journeying on the waves

of reckless temples

flooded

What happened to love’s sanctuary?

One, two, three

each tear falls effortlessly

Like grains of sand through an hourglass

quiet tears colliding

sliding

down through the liquid vortex

a silent whirlpool

hauling in the wounded heart

swallowing it in the sea

Briny souls mesh together

Alone

In this solemn hour

Afloat in a tomb

of ghost towns in the ocean

There is a quiet beauty to this poem which helps me to rise above the sadness of the subject. You are able to give the reader a choice. I can sink down with my emotion and explore the depths or I can remain awash and hope to become a part of something greater.

So soft and haunting, reminding me of what became of the Titanic and those taken down with her. Though the words speak softly, the images invoked are definitely dark and deathly... Well done.

Wow Amber you never cease to amaze me, showing lost love like a sunken treasure on a boat lost at sea... your words are haunting just as is broken love can be... this is just another amazing piece of work from you and going straight into my favs.

I love this piece. The imagery evoked, especially in the last stanza, is superb.

Beautiful write... I really enjoyed the delicate wordplay in this poem, especially these lines:

quiet tears colliding
sliding
down through the liquid vortex

A great "first read" for me. Impressive...
