Crepuscule

Crepuscule

Crepuscule

I sit in the stillness,

bundled in warmth that wraps my body in clothes,

and still,

I feel the chill as the breeze pierces through the cloth.

The sun’s falling gaze is not enough to warm…

it is merely there for joy,

closing out another glorious day.

The rejoicing halo surrounds,

flaring out symmetrical rays

in radiance of a cloud-sky eve.

It hurts my eyes to look…

I fidget a little against the cold,

watching the sparse hillside for evidence of spring’s arrival,

Flowers…

life

the buds,

the blades,

the petals dancing in the wind,

shaking and moving in homage to the late-day sun.

Time moves.

The glittering orb glows bright,

still.

Giving enough of itself

even for blown leaves off in the distance.

The breeze continues shifting the chimes,

multiple sets,

to remind…

It’s still very chilly,

cool,

despite the significant 10,000-degree surface…

a reverent red aura,

a quivering amaranthine glow,

enveloping another day’s final end…

The sunrises and sunsets are my favorite parts of the day. I often rise early even when not required to do so just to watch the sunrise. And I've taken some glorious photos of both sunrises and sunsets. I'm often enchanted by the fact that the tiny birds who have no shelter other than nests of twigs in the trees, rise each morning to sing to the dawn. This was lovely.

What a spectacular winter sunset. You brought those shafts of sunlight without their warmth to this reader. I note you posted this a year ago. We had a similar sunset here across the pond today, not quite so glorious though. Lovely poetry Seriana.

Beautiful piece, each day has to die so that another one may be born.
Winter needs to vacate the premises so that Spring can check in.
The imagery is stark here...it cries out for the attentive eye to catch.

i have been closely noticing the sun higher in the sky, strong and warmer along with all the other signs of spring - though there is still a chilled sea breeze. the daffodils are up, trees budding. hope is everywere.
what a wonderful title and word. i too never want it to end ... :

This is stunningly thoughtful & beautiful poetry! I'm blown away! There must be a billion poems about watching a sunset, so it's not easy to be original . . . your writing blasts off with originality & briskness, like a slap of recognition while reading. I had to google your title word, which is an awesome word, so perfect & rarely used! Your poem could symbolize how we are creeping around on the edge of darkness, not always being cognizant of all the wildflowers that might be fading from our view for one reason or another (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I just like the idea of the sun on my skin.
In fairness, I did take one lair of clothes off when the sun made an appearance for all of half an hour yesterday. I like the scene you paint, brings happiness, even if the chill came in at the end.

The scene you set is so easy to see and feel. The glow of the sun and still in the air the chill that lingers.
Still the muted sound of wind chimes, they were such a subtle and beautiful introduction. This is truly beautiful.

There... every word hanging on twilight's edge. I can feel that darkening chill, can see the glory lingering in the sky's fading light, can sense the desire for spring to awaken from the earth. Such a beautiful, perfect moment. :)

Brilliant title Seriana ... you have certainly set a mood here. That time of day and year is rather special. I tend to bundle up and sit on the front porch to watch the world pass by and the oncoming spring ... chilly yes, but if properly dressed it can be dealt with.
The temps are rising here now and the trees are in bud ... forsythia, daffodils & grape hyacinths are in bloom. The birds sing and we await the setting sun.

Well done.
