Bloom

Bloom

A Poem by Seriana

Bloom

A heart lies in a pool,

languid and weary.

Tepid the waters that slow flow and slosh around,

cloaking in a protective armor

of transformative fragility yet unknown.

A beautiful deception hangs all abound,

walls that suspend in surround,

coated with brilliant stones of gems.

Sparkling,

alluring,

they provoke a desire within,

a perceived worth painful to resist.

The gems drop with ease.

Tempting,

they are timidly gathered.

One is chosen,

and then another,

for the heart seeks pleasure first.

Plunging hesitant hands through the puddles of jeweled waters,

They are picked up,

caressed,

“loved”,

and cherished,

held in accord with the mind’s heart,

warily longed for,

a fleshly craving in the palm…

Agony like no other….

without warning,

without care,

ignites from within,

a smoldering pain explodes inside…

giving the heart reason to pause…

The exquisite gems are regarded again.

They are viewed,

this time through a different lens…

Skewed slightly,

but transparent in still view.

One of strength,

courage,

and devotion to self.

Amongst all others,

a solitary stone stands alone in tone,

strong and misshapen,

unnoticed at first,

its magnanimous beauty unmatched.

Piercing fire and quiescent ice,

silvery opalescence…

It glows with a stinging vengeance

an unimaginable tenderness,

graceful uniqueness,

an irreplaceable treasure to behold.

An inside passage of pleasure

seeking first the delicate vigil of the heart…

As a young person (long ago) not realizing I was bipolar, I used to crave drama in my relationships. Bipolar people are often attracted to other bipolar people due to this penchant for drama. Your poem reminds me of the roller coaster ride it would be, craving an intensity that could sometimes feel almost like pain . . . good pain . . . bad pain . . . all mixed up into a vat of uncertainty . . . not knowing whether to run toward or away. That's the back-and-forth ambivalent sensation I get from your keenly sparkling descriptions of falling, wondering, delving, forgiving . . . all that tumbling that goes along with any longed-for bloom (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I alrays get captivated by tour words. lost in the power and emotions it exudes.

When we want to make the world a beautiful place we must start with ourselves. we must have a soft but strong heart to endure all the ugliness we will endure.

Again, your imagery and the way you show things through your words are absolutely wonderful. The crimson imagery of this poem. And then there's the pure truth and honesty of this poem that you manage to convey. The pain and love in it, you described everything perfectly. Each word you used added more and more to the poem, and I'm actually kind of surprised a poem can reflect so many images. This one is so, SO beautiful and definitely deserves to be featured, it's one of your very best!
