Mine

Mine

A Poem by Seriana

Mine

I don’t feel yours anymore.

Was I ever?

Like a cozy pair of worn-out shoes,

my favorite.

That’s how it felt,

comfy and safe…

Now,

you’re like the accidental splinter jammed in my bare foot,

painfully sudden and abrupt,

with reliance on self, alone to heal the wound.

I don’t feel yours anymore.

in fact,

I never really was..

A painful read this one. That comfortable feeling of belonging is so important. To be relegated to the level of a splinter in a bare foot, all I can say is ouch. You capture the emotional side here so well.

Thank you Chris. Not much more to say about it than you're right :)
Love once so sure and comfortable, but then becomes too worn, causing blisters and sores upon the foot.
Love went awry aches too.

Take care - Dave

Has the sound of a relationship gone south. No specifics are given, but the tone is contemptuous, maybe bitter. When you're compared to an accidental splinter, you're pretty much history.
