I once started a contest called 'finding beauty' I have always disliked the catch phrase that is the current conventional wisdom... "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" sure this has some truth to it but i always felt that there's more to it than that. So I searched very hard for the definition of beauty; I asked customers at my restaurant, I searched old philosophical texts, and I read so many submissions for the contest I was inundated with so much and the only theme I could find throughout all of the answers articles and writings I could weave together (thus far) was...
Beauty is an act participative (it is not a thing, it is not a prescribed set of parameters, it is not a state of matter like symmetry or simplicity, it is not just a truth but a truth is beautiful indeed.
all that I was left with was... Beauty is an act participative it is a state of matter and it is a matter of state. The action of finding beauty is just that for we are surrounded in beauty all the time it is only a question of whether we allow ourselves to see it:) this poem is very evocative of my "quest for beauty" and after having read it several several times I have sense of this from the infers in your lines.

Thanks Robert - I am glad i can give in an act of beauty :)
i have always thought (as the old saying goes) beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there is so much out there to choose from, that is something we all will find
And, that image is beautiful
very enjoyable write
We can find beauty
in the smallest of
things of nature to behold
to a delicate degree
or in the grand scheme of
things.the large universe
in time and space..i feel
it surrounds us if we
acknowledge it's essence
Romantic words for the beauty of nature, of cities, the beauty that is all around us. Those who have that inner glow are indeed beautiful. Nicely written. Lydi**

And beauty shouldn't be an idea. It should be embraced, taken into the soul and owned wholeheartedly. A lovely flow of words from an interesting idea. Much enjoyed, Serene! :)
