Beautiful Things

Why do people keep their beautiful things for special occasions? Whether it be a favourite dress, a special necklace, a fancy hat, or anything with beauty; every one saves showing them off for special occasions.
I don't understand this. When you find something beautiful, do you not want to show it off as much as you possibly can? Exhibit it as if it were your soul? 
People should. Because beauty may not remain if it is not shown off and if it doesn't collect memories with it.
This is the same principle with love, I don't understand why people don't hold their partner's hand everywhere they go, exhibit the love and beauty you have created by pairing with each other, because one day you may regret not holding their hand, or not wearing the necklace every day.
