Flashbacks of AfflictionA Poem by Serena MonteleoneSeeking safety in others, Wishing on every possible star. The hourglass of solitude is running out. Seeing visions of desolation, Flashbacks of affliction. Your moral compass is broken. You're lost. Following the stars back home But to no victory, you’re losing vision The last light flickers as you make your indecisive choice to leave, or to go I lose when i love Walking around with a broken halo Ripped apart by the threads of our promises Forgive me for my sins No excuse for the thoughtless pain I put you through A threshold of tears held back Finding joy in a heartbeat All roads lead me to your door Breaking into pieces all over again Still working towards success Still following that same moral compass A prisoner to your tears They swallow you whole Missing the past and fearing the future Tearing apart everything you worked so hard for And trying to forget it all But where am I going? Running on love falling into compulsiveness Unable to think straight when you're hit in the face by jealousy Tangled in confusion Trying to pry my way out of the cage you put me in Causing even more of a blur History is fading into air Transparent and questionable Waiting for something that'll never come© 2013 Serena MonteleoneAuthor's Note
