Avoiding Hell

Avoiding Hell

A Poem by Serena Monteleone

Quiet, Quiet,

You’ll wake them.

The fears and thoughts never diminish.

There’s admiration for the restraint.

Locked out of heaven,

Avoiding hell.

Find the key within the grief.

Tainted by guilt and summoned by a prayer,

I’m letting go of my sobriety with a bottle of depression.

Feeling numb with every step,

Following your ever-beating heart.

Pains name is yours,

Unforgivable and poisoned,

But loved all the while.

Realizing its only temporary,

Running from all the pain,

When you just run back into yourself.
