when i become a woman

when i become a woman

A Poem by S. S. Allen

Is it my biological clock you're concerned about?
My quest for life long learning?
Does my age puzzle you?
Tell me, is it my celibacy that I hold true?
Or my silence on trivial matters too?
Tell me, what is it that I lack;
As if that will scare me!
Until then,
that's all the woman I need to be
All the woman I choose to be
And I will not be treated any less.
