Too Fat

Too Fat

A Poem by S. S. Allen

I was good enough, I guess.

When in your abject values I would dress.

I forced your pantaloons upon my wide hips.

And smeared your cherry-red stick on my lips.

But in them I didn’t fit.

In your values.

In your syllogism.

It made me believed I was fat,

When in actuality and in truth;

They were too miniscule.

The need to be close to someone obvious here. The metaphor of trying on another's clothes (even if a real action) is superb.
The disappointment of not coming up to their standards - whose standards are they though - projected ones maybe?
Realisation (and subsequent personal growth) at the end.
A journey through a relationship - perhaps even one with God.
I like it.
