Love is a Thing with Teeth

Love is a Thing with Teeth

A Poem by Nobody.

Your mouth has turned into an open grave,

In which my love has gone to sleep, and to rot.

There’s nothing of my soul left here to save,

Just flesh stretched tight over a man sized knot

Of emotional vines, spangled with thorns,

And filled with icy bile and deception,

You’ve shattered my halo, affixed my horns,

Battered my hope, and steeled my perception.

Now, through these electric shadows, I hunt

For anything soft enough to devour.

I’ve given away my need to confront,

So, I sneak like a snake through the wild flowers,

I crush each lovely heart; leave shards in dew,

Wishing the blood on my fangs came from you.

Haunting imagery, beauty in the defiled thought.
Fantastic work, thank you.
