tired eyes, cold ears, dark place

tired eyes, cold ears, dark place

A Poem by Nobody.

tired eyes, cold ears, dark place

invisible dogs sing
a nocturnal hymn

mid-morning.

the Bible says

they’re all

rabid.

a woman throws
a cigarette butt
from
a moving window.

her frantic music

spatters my mind,

as I dodge the mud water

she splashes upon

the sidewalk.

the cold
stabs me
deeply.

my perception

of the world

used to be

a much better

lover.

The starkness of the words matches that of the mood. These reflections we have of better days, they bite us just like that, and the world seems out to get us all of a sudden. Beautifully sad.

I love the last sentence. It's like Richard Gere in that one movie.

I think "used to be" are the operative words here. How do we make sense of the pictures anymore? After you've seen a billion commercials through the media, can you see anything else? The art, the soul, the spirit offers better, eternal fare. Better to fill up with those images...

Saw your site RG, looks cool. Hope you have a great new year.
