Must Be ChristmasA Poem by Nobody.hatred
breathes loudly from the
backseat of a
passing designer skull feels like
a pack of rabid wolves gathering in
the front yard caroling,
wassailing disemboweling
with goodwill greed burrows like a Biblical plague of ticks into the
gooseflesh of hypnotized
cart-pushers suddenly, everybody
wants something from you latte
charged poinsettia
spackled mobs storm the public
square; stomp the
retail workers into fetal
submission vicious red
and green trolls wrestling
over dolls and
cookies and
Snuggies and
laptops I’m
sweating kerosene, all the
blood I own is just behind my
angry eyes snowmen on
fire backlit reindeer
impaled on their own green velvet
antlers plastic Baby
Jesus in a skull-face
ski mask acres of
shiny metal on asphalt bleed blackness into the cold sky tinsel-gagged eggnog swamp of a sleigh ride jollity
has silver crocodile teeth I’m going
to build a bomb shelter out of
discarded gag gifts stay there
and eat leftovers until January
2nd that’s when
this jingly jangly death-smog usually recedes the world
has become a greasy ball of commercials
and ornaments God spare
us must be
