the night my world jumped a guard rail

the night my world jumped a guard rail

A Poem by Nobody.

I

fragments of used up laughter lie still on green tiles;

grizzly aftermath of a silent war.

facedown in muddy puddles of flaccid tears,

we pretend we’re not drowning.

at this stage,

I know that

survival is not a good idea,

yet, still, I hope you’ll try to stop the flood.

II

once you’re gone,

there’ll be nobody left

who wants to call me brother.

colors of sunset tap against the hospital window

as if to say,

“time’s up.”

III

my eyes feel like deflated whispers.

for a slippery moment,

I hate everything.

IV

now that you don’t exist,

I’ve forgotten who I am.

V

pain dangles from my shoulders

like a prosthetic head.

This is a sad piece, RG. The emotions conveyed are palpable, heart-stirring, wrenching basically. Awesome work of art.
