the way it looks from here,A Poem by Nobody.a slow, sweet disintegration, for the coming-into-being: babies laugh, victims scream, eyes light up, eyes go dim, time stops. starts again without notice or inclination. death, time & space delayed: instant of impact, dance gives way to rest, rest gives way to dance without feet. but, the Music continues Forever. certain encounters sing on: soundings of memory, voice of a mother, relationships, twisting of leaves on cool wind, ice cream truck music, wild sex, honest Love, relative greatness; crowd noise crescendos to Heaven, decrescendos to quiet fulfillment. games balls & battle scars taken home. future is a moment at a time, of a time to come; existence is a flatfooted stance when that punch lands. all former impressions eradicated. the page, otherwise, is geological; topological: a glance down to see your bare feet walking the bare dust.
God is somewhere in the spaces between. reader lives the page, reader makes the meaning, reader becomes a microcosm, reader chooses the end. level the vertical moment. horizontal history sliced into bite-sized burrs that cut as you swallow: lover walks away, last breath is taken with dignity, first breath is screamed indignantly. conclusion: dignity is a well-told lie; a crazy glue to hold oneself together unnecessarily. matter matters little. gunshot to ribbon snap: poem face glitters. journey fingers glide. search is as natural as blooms . . . found. lost again. a good death is the fireworks. love: the lingering aftertaste. one last wish: to die by way of eating the bear, instead of being eaten by the bear. barely missed. deeply kissed. goodnight.
