anyone anymoreA Poem by Nobody.shadows all whisper, colors all scream, as I dream of you bathed in laughter and song, but, when my eyelids are blown open by time, the scum crawls upon me, fear drips my pores. anyone, anymore, can drive me to edges: suicide ledges, and dream river shores. anyone, anymore, can capture my wild soul: blue eyes in traffic, red lips on grey walls. monsters still hover: dead lovers, live aches, lake of fire crests beneath my breastbone, letters, unread, stand ghostly as tombstones, singing blue battery, stinging red skin. anyone, anymore, can drain me of life force: dead men in gutters, loud children in parks. the darkness is hungry, jaws close hard around me, my demons have found me, my mysteries are solved. shadows all whisper, colors all scream, as I dream of you descending in smoke plumes, I jump, reach and fall, and you ignore my calls. alas, I’m alone on this icy tile floor. anyone, anymore, can pick flesh from the bones of this carrion roadkill; this subhuman wreck. let the sun burn me, and the cold burn me more; just sad unclaimed baggage. I’m not anyone anymore. © 2011 Nobody.Reviews
