bluesA Poem by Nobody.blues thin layer broken, I’m drowning in your aftermath. all the reds in my head have gone cold and clammy. damn me! I’m frozen from the meat to the bone! turn blue! like a choking victim! blue! like a new bruise! blue! like the hypnopompic shirttails of dreams. children scream from a school bus headed for a brick wall, short coffins hide behind a prayer of ice. lost in a blizzard rolling in from my guts where permafrost slides aside to reveal: blue! like a gun barrel. blue! like a baby bonnet. blue! like a frostbitten angel in freefall. nobody calls from the slow-roast mountaintop, they just drop meat scraps to, we, mongrels below. slow-mo manna drifts like zombie snowflakes that break as spiked vases on my outstretched tongue. and, my lungs collapse in the minor key of truth turned blue! like the devil’s eyes. blue! like a whispered curse. blue! like hanged man kicking at flames. blue! like your favorite song! blue! like your faded jeans! blue! like love’s shadow slipping into the past. you took every other hue, dragged them away like trash to whatever disaster you’ve crashed into: and, all I have left is blue. © 2011 Nobody.Featured Review
